How We Designed a Safe and Engaging Church Nursery
When Cornerstone Church in Lakewood Ranch, FL reached out to us, they had one clear goal: to transform their nursery into a space that was safe, functional, and welcoming for both kids and parents.
Our team got to work blending architectural design and interior design to create a nursery that is playful, practical, and designed to grow with little ones.
Redesigning the Nursery From the Ground Up
The old nursery had the basics, but it was simple, a little outdated, and it was missing those special touches that make families feel excited about dropping their kids off.
That’s where our team stepped in. Using CAD drawings, our architectural designer created and mapped out every detail before the first piece of wood was cut.
Behind-the-Scenes: How We Built a Playful and Practical Church Nursery
Once the plans were approved, it was time to bring the design to life. Our favorite features?
The Custom Built Reading Corner: We designed two custom wooden trees that double as bookshelves and cozy seating.
The Hanging Swings: We installed soft, 100% cotton rope swings with a five-point harness, keeping babies safe and parents worry-free.
Custom Cabinets and Storage: Progressive Cabinetry built clean, modern cabinets with colorful knobs and open shelving so toys and supplies could finally have a home.
Playful Walls: The walls were designed with soft curves and leafy shapes, tying back to stories of growth and creation. The colors are calm for babies but still bright enough to keep toddlers engaged.
Interior Design Details That Bring the Nursery to Life
Once the architectural pieces were in place, our interior design team added the finishing touches.
Cushions and throw pillows on the tree seating to make it extra cozy
A pull-up bar that gave toddlers a safe way to practice standing and climbing.
The arched chalkboard (that’s also magnetic!) where kids can draw, stick magnets, and play pretend.
Rugs and soft furnishings that make the room warm, inviting, and safe for crawlers (hello, nugget couches)
The best part? Going back after the install and seeing the room full of kids playing, parents smiling, and volunteers enjoying the space. That’s why we do what we do.
Why Design Matters in a Church Nursery
Designing a nursery isn’t just about picking out cute furniture and paint colors. It’s about creating a space that really works for kids, parents, and volunteers.
That’s why we offer both architectural design and interior design in-house. Our team works side by side from start to finish, making sure everything feels connected and no detail slips through the cracks.
