5 Design Trends We’re Loving This Fall (& What’s Officially Out)

We love fall for the pumpkin spice lattes, our signature fall candle, and cozy sweaters, but what we really love is the chance to rethink our spaces. Fall design this year is all about warmth, texture, and individuality. Oh and spoiler…cookie-cutter homes didn’t make the cut.

We are leaving the sterile spaces and fleeting trends, and bringing back personality: layered textures, soulful pieces, and design choices that feel collected rather than copied. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to embrace bold choices and timeless textures, this is it.

Here’s what we’re loving for fall 2025 and a few trends we’re officially ready to leave behind!

What’s In

Statement Stone
We are talking wayyy beyond basic countertops. Think: marble with dramatic veining, richly toned quartz, and even unique stone slabs are being used everywhere, from fireplace surrounds to bold backsplashes.

Want an easy way to test the trend? Swap your coffee table for a stone piece and instantly bring that statement into your living room.

Mixed Natural Textures
The secret to a room that feels lived-in yet refined? Texture. Design is about more than what you see, it’s what you feel. Combining a mixture of natural textures can bring instant dimension and character to a space.

Pair a raw wood side table with a linen lamp shade, or drape a wool blanket across a rattan armchair. These simple swaps keep your space feeling warm and welcoming.

Color-Drenched Rooms
Minimalism is out. And moody is in. Painting walls, ceilings, and trim all one color to transform a room into a cocoon of color. It’s bold, but it also feels incredibly cozy. The best part? It’s one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to refresh a space. Just a weekend of painting can completely change the look of an entire room.

Printed Wallpaper
Wallpaper is still having a major moment, but it’s not just an accent wall anymore. Today’s trend is about wrapping entire rooms to feel collected. We are talking grasscloths that add texture and warmth, oversized florals that feel moody and romantic, chinoiserie patterns that bring in timeless elegance, or murals that make the room itself a piece of art. Trust us on this one.

Artisanal & Handcrafted Pieces
Fast décor is out, and timeless pieces are in. Handwoven textiles, hand-thrown pottery, antique lighting, and artisan-crafted furniture are leading the way. Why? Because adding heirloom-worthy furniture and antiques bring in personality and depth to your space.

Channel your inner treasure-hunter and run up to your local antique store. Search for timeless wood furniture, handmade details, and vintage pieces. Suddenly, your home will instantly feel more collected and personal.

What’s Out

As much as we love spotlighting what’s trending, it’s just as important to talk about the styles and habits we’re leaving behind. Design is constantly changing, and let’s be honest, some trends have officially had their moment…

So, here is what we’re phasing out this season:

Furniture Sets
We get it… buying the full set is very tempting, but it lacks personality. Rooms designed with pieces that look like they were ordered all at once can come across flat and impersonal. Instead, try mixing those artisanal and handcrafted pieces like we talked about finding at your local antique shop ;)

Fast Décor
Impulse buys and “filler pieces” don’t hold the same weight as something chosen with intention. Those quick buys usually feel trendy in the moment but don’t stand the test of time. We want personality and craftsmanship. No to fast décor and HECK YES to heirloom-worthy finds, handcrafted details, and meaningful pieces.

Overdecorating Surfaces
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room.

…Clutter….

Filling every shelf or tabletop might feel like a good idea, but it usually overwhelms the eye. Give your favorite pieces room to shine and embrace negative space. This is what truly allows those favorite pieces to be seen.

Sterile Minimalism
There’s a difference between a space that feels intentional and a space that feels sterile. We are all for good minimal style, but not the kind that feels and looks lifeless. A home should feel warm and lived-in.

The fix? Layering. Add depth with natural stone or wood, soften the edges with textiles, and introduce color that grounds the space. Minimalism doesn’t have to disappear; it just needs to evolve into something warmer, richer, and more inviting.

All-White Everything
Don’t hear us wrong, we love a good crisp white as much as anyone. What we don’t love is when EVERYTHING is white. White walls, white couch, white rug? No, no, and nooo. It’s time for richer, warmer palettes. Moody hues and natural materials bring more personality (and practicality) than an all-bleached backdrop ever could.

Here’s a good example:

At the end of the day, it’s not about what’s “in” or “out”, it’s about how your home makes you feel. Fall just gives us the perfect excuse to layer in warmth, rethink what’s working (and what’s not), and choose pieces that express who you are and how you want your space to feel.
