Our 2026 Interior Design Trend Predictions
A new year always brings a fresh wave of creativity, so we are breaking down our 2026 design trend predictions. And we are sooo here for them!
2026 Color of the Year Roundup
Before diving into our predictions, we have to share the colors of 2026 because we are obsessed. Paint brands are embracing softer, more neutral palettes this year. These aren’t loud colors; they’re quiet luxuries that help a home feel calm and beautifully collected.
Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore’s color for next year is Silhouette AF-655. It’s a rich espresso hue with charcoal undertones that adds depth to any room. We’re thinking color drenching, offices space, or built-ins.
HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams
Chosen as the 2026 Color of the Year for both HGTV Home and Sherwin-Williams, Universal Khaki HGSW6150 is a warm, earthy neutral for that added comfort to any space. Pair it with warm woods or coastal textures; this shade truly plays well with everything.
Pantone
Pantone recently announced Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201) as their color of the year. It’s a soft shade of white to bring freshness to a space. It stands apart from any builder grade white yet is so versatile with all other colors.
Behr
Behr’s color of 2026, Hidden Gem N430-6A, is a smokey jadel that strikes the perfect balance between color and calm, deep enough to make a statement, yet soft enough to live beautifully in everyday spaces.
Now that we’ve talked about the colors for 2026, take a look at what we think will be big in interior design next year.
Closed Floor Plans Are Quietly Returning
Crazy, we know! But across the country, people are gravitating toward more defined rooms and separated spaces like bringing back the dining room, private offices, and dedicated cozy dens.
Here in Anna Maria Island and Sarasota, the love for open-concept living is still strong. Coastal homes thrive on natural light, that gulf breeze, and indoor-outdoor living, so we’re seeing more of a mix of both styles rather than a full shift.
Our prediction for 2026:
Open layouts will stay, but with more architectural interest. We love using arched openings, pocket doors, room dividers, and intentional “zones” to create that intimacy without losing the airy coastal feel. And honestly? We’re big fans of a space that has both. There’s room for openness and coziness in a well-designed home.
The Return of Dens, Sculleries & True Private Spaces
If the last few years were all about multi-use everything, 2026 is the pivot back to rooms built with their own purpose.
What’s trending:
Dens: A lived-in and cozy space designated for game nights, watching movies, relaxing, or sipping something delicious.
Sculleries/Butler’s Pantries: the hidden prep kitchens that make entertaining easier and help keep everything organized and looking nice in the kitchen.
Library corners: Built-ins, soft lighting, and stunning millwork come together to create the dreamiest reading area.
Wine Rooms or Wet Bars: From small built-in nooks to full glass-enclosed showpieces, 2026 is leaning into small moments of enjoyment at home.
Larger Laundry Rooms Are Officially Back
Let’s be real… did they ever really go out of style? Everyone loves a large laundry room.
People are looking for:
More storage
Double washers/dryers
Folding counters
Custom cabinetry
Durable but beautiful finishes
Having a larger laundry room gives you the space for overflow storage, adds function, and resale appeal. It’s a trend we’re thrilled to see.
Bold Maximalist Home Trends
Minimalism has had a long, beautiful run, but 2026 is ready for more color, more pattern, and more personality.
Expect to see:
Bold wallpapers
Layered textiles
Statement lighting
Pattern-on-pattern
Art that feels collected, not curated
Maximalism doesn’t mean clutter; it means character. Done right, it’s timeless and creates spaces that tell a story.
Custom Window Treatments and Coordinating Bedding
The luxury hotel look is coming into the home.
Custom textiles are one of our favorite ways to bring a room together. This year, we expect to see:
Floor-to-ceiling drapes that just perfectly kiss the floor
Coordinated custom bedding
Trim details
Durable, high-end fabrics that still feel soft and comfortable
It’s one of the best ways to take a space that feels like it’s missing something and make it feel complete.
Antiques and Warm Woods Are Dominating Home Design
Goodbye cold, grey interiors and hello warmth, depth, and meaningful pieces that bring character into the home.
What’s on our radar for this next year:
Antique accent pieces
Vintage coastal art
Oak, walnut & warmer-toned woods
Handcrafted pottery
Iron + brass details
Because creating a home should feel lived-in, layered, and loved.
These are the trends we’re betting on! If you’re dreaming of a refresh or a full redesign, now is the perfect time to start the conversation. We’d love to help you bring your home to life in a way that feels beautifully intentional and uniquely you!
